Which Culture does the city of Zug need and want

Culture and art – this is an exchange, it is a flow, it is a product of a polylogue, it requires participation from all sides. Cultural life reflects the political, social, and economic atmosphere of the society.
While inherently anchored on solid Swiss traditions and values, Zug is blessed to also have the benefits of a multicultural community. Several languages are spoken and different cultures come together in this most unique of cantons. Our cultural life here should seek to reflect this in full inclusion, without excluding any social group.
How can these needs be identified
I see that we possibly need:
-       Inclusive
-       Open (public)
-       Mutual exchange
-       International
-       Tolerant
-       Sensitive to all
-       Experimental
Approaches.

What cultural offerings would you like to see for the city of Zug in the future?
Multulingual and intercultural offers – there are a lot of art and culture professionals among the international community.
Zug is a place where Switzerland meets the World (thanks to special economic regime) – given the canton a unique opportunity to embrace and benefit from this culturally.
Zug is also a place where we understand our privilege and support those which might be less fortunate, whether locally or globally.
To combine our efforts, to teach and accept each other, to understand each other – the foundation for tolerance and empathy – isn’t that what we need right now in this world?
Intergenerational offers
From 5 years, children begin to go to the kindergarten. Up until 5, children are with their caregivers.
It is scientifically proven that a substantial increase in arts educational experiences can have a remarkable impact on students’ academic, social, and emotional outcomes.
Also it shows that joined intergenerational experience of art and culture offers is highly beneficial. It gives social, psychological, emotional, intellectual, cognitive development.

Age appropriate offers (and involvement) for all age groups
Although I see a big shift in paradigm now in this field – a lot of young people are getting involved in cultural life - I feel there is a lot of space to keep developing this tendency.
Open space for getting involved in culture life (supervised and educationally appropriate, funded, accessible) – for example centralized art/culture cluster - Culture Areas for all ages (START platform for emerging art and culture representatives) - a place where people can create their own projects, organize their own exhibitions, concerts, have a chance to learn and teach - with a support and guidance of professionals and of the canton/cultural foundations/sponsors, etc.

Transformative approach in culture institutions
Which means more public involvement, equality and a dialogue between cultural educators and visitors/participants.
-More opportunities for cultural/art educators.
Educational opportunities for art educators (Art mediation, museum education, courses for artists interdisciplinary research opportunities in different languages), exchange, dialogue will generate up-to-date educational programs for Zug inhabitants (and not only) of all age/social/cultural background moving Zug closer to becoming a center of culture development and exchange.

Up to date
- 2020 will be remembered as the year the world went online. Web-based collaborative platforms are playing a bigger role in our everyday life. This online dialogue opened up an opportunity for a lot of Zug inhabitants to participate in this discussion.
To use online platforms for art and cultural exchange – is the way to unite and widen up the involvement.
